These colorful cupcakes and little party favors were done for my friend Kelly. She was hosting a monthly book club meeting for her girlfriends at her house and wanted something special. The occasion also included the birthday celebration of 6 of the participants. Most of the cupcakes were decorated with a single colorful sugar paste flower in pink, orange or yellow. Some I added a butterfly and 6 were the special birthday cupcakes that I topped with candles and name initials. The cupcake flavors were the ever popular yellow cupcake filled with dulce de leche and frosted with vanilla italian merengue buttercream, lemon cupcake with lemon curd filling frosted with lemon italian merengue buttercream and coconut cupcake with pineapple filling topped with cream cheese frosting and coconut flakes. The favor little boxes contained the famous, at least to most Brazilians, sweet treat called brigadeiro (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brigadeiro) which is a mixture of cooked condensed milk and chocolate rolled in to small rounds and coved with chocolate vermicelli.
I’m always honored to do wedding cakes and it’s a feeling that never gets old to me. Rori and Alan’s cake was no exception. Rori had a picture of a cake she liked so I used that as a spring board to design hers. She wanted green, her favorite color, she liked lace and flowers so I incorporated all of them in my design. For the flavors, she knew what she liked and also wanted variety. To accommodate that I made the bottom tier chocolate hazelnut, the middle lemon, and the top spice. In addition to the tiered cake, I made a 9″ coconut pineapple cake and a carrot cake. To add to the variety, groom’s favorite pies were a great addition to the cake table.
When I started thinking about Fabiane’s graduation cake, I knew for sure I didn’t want to go with the usual graduation cap and diploma decorations. I wanted a more sophisticated and mature concept for the cake. So I came up with gold and glitter stars for a job well done. Here I am using glitter again! Not only glitter but gold glitter and gold accents.
In addition to the cake, I made celebratory hostess gift cupcakes. These chocolate cupcakes are one of my favorites. Moist chocolate cake filled with brigadeiro filling and frosted with chocolate meringue buttercream.
I haven’t been known as girly glittery type a person but when I got my front door Easter decoration out of the storage the idea of this cupcake came to mind. Simple but delicious this vanilla citrus flavored cupcakes were a hit!
I had a great time designing the cake for David 1st birthday party at El Camino Park, Orange, CA
I love the Disney movie Tangled! I’m not ashamed to tell that I have it and watched it so many times that I lost count. This cake was inspired on the movie’s mural in the tower room. For fun, I added a very realistic magical flower made sugar paste.
Okay, not really… The theme of Carolina’s Baby Shower Cake and Cupcakes came from her baby boy’s room monkey decor. It was suggested to me that I stay with colors of blue, green, yellow and chocolate brown so I went to work. The whole project included the stand, jelly beans party favors, cupcakes (vanilla, lemon & chocolate), and a small 6″ cake.
I had a wonderful time helping Molly with the design of her wedding cake and dessert table. The colorful cake was inspired by traditional mexican crafts including paper flowers, Talavera tiles and “papel picado”. All unique hand made decorations were created in sugar paste.
